How can one know what a truly effective writer is until one recognizes those that have accomplished things of extraordinary value? Below I discuss twelve writers of various backgrounds, time periods and experiences who all contribute to their respective societies.
WHY DO THESE PEOPLE MATTER?
Realistically, there are thousands of people the belong on these respective lists. Some people may read through this page and wonder: "Where is Shakespeare? Where is Maya Angelou, Emily Dickinson and Edgar Allen Poe? Where are all of the people I've spent several years learning incredibly vague things about?"
The point of this list was not to tell you things you already know. There are a lot of famous writers that have come and gone in this world, but not all of them receive the major recognition they deserve. The point is that while not all of these people may not be household names, they are more than just novelists or scientists or mathematicians - they are part of the foundation that all free, morally sound societies are built upon. They understand, they conceive, and most importantly, they inform.
